The Jade String Trio has established itself on the concert stage and in the educational world as a leader in its genre. Its artistry has been hailed by audiences and critics alike.The Trio is celebrated for its wide-ranging repertoire, which embraces the beloved masterpieces of Western classical music, contemporary works, and Chinese folk and classical music exquisitely arranged for violin, viola and cello.

Based in New York City, the Jade String Trio was formed in 1999 by three highly accomplished Chinese-American women. The Trio has concertized widely in the New York metropolitan area including performances at Bargemusic and for the Cutting Edge Music Series. It has captivated audiences at Donnell Library, Columbia and Rockefeller University and was featured on WNYC-FM's Live Segment with John Schaefer and at the United Nations Disarmament Talks. A recent concert featured an innovative music-dance collaboration with Yin Mei Dance. Other multi-media projects with dance and theatre companies are projected.

The Jade String Trio has premiered, performed and commissioned new works from composers such as Jin Xiang, Victoria Bond, Philip Rothman, Davide Zannoni, and Ding Zhi-Nuo. The Trio recorded Paul Chihara's String Trio (1985) for Albany Records.

In addition to concert appearances, the Jade String Trio is in demand for their educational workshops and performances. They have been presented in this capacity at Queensborough Community College, the Bloomingdale School of Music, for the New Jersey Youth Orchestra and the Westchester Public Schools. The name "Jade" is derived from the properties of the stone: beauty and strength. The beauty of sound and the strength of their musical conviction are elegantly reflected in their performances. The individual careers of Claire Chan, violin; Ching Chen Juhl, viola; and Ling Cao, cello, have crossed the boundaries of east and west, and as jade is valued internationally, so is the depth and experience these musicians bring to the Jade String Trio.
